Activation & registration

How do I receive my activation code?

Usually you will receive an e-mail with the activation code.
If you bought a LUCI product on the iTunes app store, you do not need an activation code to unlock the software, it will be fully functional after installation via the app store.

Can I transfer my license to a different device?

If you installed the LUCI app using an activation-code, just send us an email with your activation-code and we’ll free up your license for activation on a different device. Your old installation will stop working after this.

How to install a extra LUCI stream?

The extra stream(s) will be added to your license by us. If you then Register again, using the same activation-code as before , the extra stream is activated.

Which features are not included in the LITE version?

Recording to file, playing from file and uploading files are all not included in the lite version. Also your codec format choice is limited to G722.

What is my mobile data consumption per minute?

About 1300 KByte per minute

What is the minimum needed speed of the internet connection ?

In theory about 64 kbps up and 64 kbps down, when you use the AAC-HE format at 32 kbps, so you do not need a fast internet connection. But you DO need a reliable uninterrupted internet connection, slower connections tend to be not so reliable. High speed internet connections are better, but also not guaranteed to be stable enough for uninterrupted streaming.

What happens if I lose my LUCI USB drive?

Let us know you lost your usb and your activation code. We will then deactivate your license. We can send you a new drive with a new activation. The cost for the new USB drive is € 40,- excl. shipping costs. You do not need to pay the license costs again. Send us an email.

Do I need to install LUCI LIVE provided on the USB drive?

No, the installation and software activation is done for you before we send out the USB drive. So you can plug it into your computer and start using it right away.

Is the USB license fixed to the USB stick?

Yes it is, the licence is unique for your USB stick

What is my mobile data consumption per minute?

at 32 kbit/sec AAC-HE up and 56 kbit/sec down : about 844 KByte per minute

What is the “Echo server” for?

The Echo server is a free service and is meant for test purpose only. You can use this to test your internet connection, the stream you send will be sent back, so you will hear yourself back with a short delay. The server is located in a datacenter in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Also, IPV6 will be used if available on your local internet connection.

How can I mute my headphone signal?

Click on the headphone symbol under the Left fader.

Can I Cue my microphone signal?

Yes you can! Click on the MIC symbol under the Right fader.

What is the fader sensitivity?

1 dB per step, maximum and minimum are +20dB and -20 dB.

3G connection dropouts

Increase your jitter buffer to 250 ms or more. This will help on your receiving side, if the studio experiences dropouts on your stream it depends on the receiving equipment how to solve that. If you use Luci Studio, increase the extra jitter buffer to 250 ms or more. Even then, you could still experience dropouts as public internet connections have no guaranteed service levels. But in general, with a 250 ms jitter buffer on 3G you normally have a good connection for live reports.

Is Luci Studio needed to receive a stream from Luci Live ?

No, Luci Live is compatible with many different types of IP Audio codecs you could use, or maybe already have, in the studio.

Can I receive multiple simultaneous streams on 1 PC?

Yes, you can get multiple simultaneous streams for the same PC. You need to have a multi channel sound card for that. Check out our Tech blog here for more information. You can buy extra streams via our webshop. You will need to provide your activation code in order we can add this to your license.

How to install an extra LUCI STUDIO stream?

You need to supply your activation code of your LUCI Studio so we can add the extra stream(s) to your license. This to make sure we add the extra stream to the rightful license. As soon as the stream has been added we will notify you. You then need to Register again, using the same activation-code as before. Check out our Tech blog how to enable the extra stream(s).

Do I need an extra Luci Studio stream for each reporter in the field?

No, only when they want to connect simultaneously. So, if you have many reporters in the field but there is always only 1 that goes Live, you can use Luci Studio without an extra stream.
